The Urban Studio inspires local leaders and community members to imagine what is possible when cities are designed to put people first. We support public-led initiatives that strengthen community resilience leveraging our deep expertise in urban design and meaningful participatory processes to advance equitable climate solutions. Our central goal is not only to inform, but to cultivate belonging, agency, and sustained connection between people and the environments they inhabit.

Our Roots

Since 2019, The Urban Studio has led and supported nature-based community design projects across Los Angeles, California; Washington, DC; Baltimore, Maryland; Germantown, Maryland; and Northern Virginia.

Through this work, we have developed strong expertise in designing engagement opportunities that: meet communities where they are, translates technical goals into accessible experiences, and builds local capacity for environmental care.

Our work bridges urban planning, art, and environmental practice to help communities green their neighborhoods in ways that are durable, inclusive, and grounded in lived experience.
